Confused by all the Internet speeds out there? So are lots of our customers!
When it comes to choosing the right home internet plan, it can be hard to know what will suit the needs of your household and how to make sense of all the jargon! It's natural to ask yourself: Where do I start? How do I choose?
Here are a few tips we’ve put together when it comes to choosing a plan:
- Make sure you consider how you and your household will utilise the internet connection in order to get the right plan. If you live alone and only focus on e-mails and web browsing, then you can get by with a basic fibre or NBN plan. Most ISPs offer basic ones that come with 25 Mbps minimum download speed.
- If you are a couple or family with one or two young children who love to stream high-definition videos and content online, then to avoid buffering and lags, an internet connection with a minimum of 50Mbps download speed is likely going to suit your needs.
- Now, if your household is made up of three or more people with multiple devices (laptop, tablet, Nintendo, PS5, Google Home, Smart TV, Smart Fridge, the list goes on...) and you all enjoy super responsive gaming and 4K definition streaming, and spend most time online, then you would definitely want to sign up for a much higher plan with an 80-100Mbps download speed. This will allow you to all be online and utilise the internet with very minimal (if not no) latency and run your background devices such as your Google Home or Alexa and your phones.
